Khaberni - Minister of Transport Nidal Al-Qatamin received on Sunday in his office at the Ministry of Transport, the Saudi ambassador to the Kingdom, His Highness Prince Mansour bin Khaled Al Saud, during which they discussed ways to enhance cooperation in the transport sector in all its forms, with a focus on railway projects and regional connectivity.
Al-Qatamin confirmed during the meeting the depth of the historical brotherly relations between Jordan and Saudi Arabia, noting that these solid relationships positively reflect on various fields, especially the economic and transport sector, which forms an essential pillar in supporting intra-regional trade and enhancing regional integration.
The minister reviewed during the meeting the proposed railway line project within Jordan, which connects the Al-Omari border with Saudi Arabia reaching the Jaber crossing on the Syrian border passing through Al-Madounah, explaining that this project forms a strategic axis for connecting the Gulf countries with Syria and then to Turkey via Jordan, enhancing the fluidity of goods movement and opening new horizons for regional trade.
Al-Qatamin emphasized that the current regional circumstances impose the necessity of seeking effective and sustainable alternatives in the transport sector, stressing the importance of accelerating the implementation of railway connectivity projects due to their pivotal role in achieving economic stability and enhancing supply chains in the region.
For his part, His Highness the Saudi ambassador affirmed that the relations between Saudi Arabia and Jordan are deep-rooted and strong, describing the two countries as "one body" with shared interests that serve both peoples and the region as a whole.
He pointed to the importance of developing joint transport projects, especially in the field of railways, considering them a strategic tool to enhance regional economic integration.
The ambassador expressed his country's ongoing readiness to cooperate with Jordan and provide all forms of support to facilitate the implementation of joint transport projects, emphasizing that Saudi Arabia recognizes the importance of the opportunities provided by the railway sector in light of regional changes, necessitating accelerated work on these vital projects.
Both parties agreed on the importance of continued joint coordination and enhancing technical work between the relevant entities in both countries, contributing to advancing transport projects towards implementation and achieving the desired integration in the region.
