The Official Gazette in Kuwait published, on Sunday morning, six new royal decrees, which involve the withdrawal of Kuwaiti nationality from about 1300 people, and those who acquired it by dependency, based on recommendations from the Higher Committee for Kuwaiti Nationality Investigation.
The decisions included prominent names, among them former MP Anwar Al-Fikr (whose nationality was withdrawn by dependency).
In addition to former international goalkeeper Nawaf Al-Khaldi, who represented his national team in 115 matches.
Nationality was also withdrawn from Qadsia player Saleh Al-Sheikh Al-Hindi, the most decorated Kuwaiti player in history.
Most of the nationality withdrawals were based on Article 13 of the (amended) Nationality Law, especially those granted under the category of "noble deeds" or by dependency.
Kuwait continues, since the beginning of last year, the largest wave of nationality withdrawals in the country's history.
