Fatah Announces Its Victory in Local Elections

Khaberni - Fatah movement confirmed that the sweeping victory achieved by its list "Persistence and Giving" in local councils and rural councils elections, is considered a popular referendum supporting the movement’s direction, political program, and national choices.

Fatah explained in a statement issued by the Commission for Information, Culture and Mobilization on Sunday, that this victory reflects the awareness of the Palestinian people and their bias towards the democratic option, where the movement achieved victory in the majority of bodies, notably Hebron, Tulkarm, Salfit, and Al-Bireh,

In addition to forming 197 municipal and rural councils "by acclamation" in agreement with the national forces, notably the municipalities of Ramallah and Nablus.

Fatah pointed out that the results of these elections represent a qualitative shift in the course of Palestinian democracy initiated by President Mahmoud Abbas at the beginning of the year 2026.

It added that the local elections will be followed by the convening of the movement's eighth conference next month, in preparation for holding the National Council elections in November of next year, affirming that this path aims to embody the independent Palestinian state with Jerusalem as its capital.

In a historic moment, Fatah noted that for the first time since 2007, citizens in the Gaza Strip were able to exercise their democratic right by voting in the "Deir al-Balah" district, considering it a slap to the occupation's plans aimed at partitioning Palestinian geography.

The movement concluded its statement by thanking the masses who renewed their trust in the President’s approach and Fatah movement, despite boycott campaigns and harsh conditions, and commended the role of the elections committee and the security institution in the success of this national celebration.
