Khaberni - The first public trial of key figures in Assad's regime began on Sunday, attended by the Syrian judge, the Attorney General Hasan Al-Turba, at the Judicial Palace in Damascus.
The "historic" session was initiated by the judge of the Fourth Criminal Court, marking the first trial sessions against the accused, Aatef Najib, amidst strict security and judicial procedures.
The accused, Aatef Najib, appeared before the court on charges of committing crimes against the Syrian people, making him one of the first accused from the symbols of Assad's regime.
The trial session is attended by several of the victims' relatives in the Fourth Criminal Court's hall, in addition to a number of Arab and international lawyers and journalists.
