Jordan and other Arab and Islamic countries confirm their absolute rejection of changing the status quo in Jerusalem

Khaberni - The foreign ministers of the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of Indonesia, the Islamic Republic of Pakistan, the Republic of Turkey, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the State of Qatar, and the Arab Republic of Egypt condemned the repeated violations of the historical and legal status quo in the Islamic and Christian holy sites in Jerusalem by the Israeli occupation authorities, especially the ongoing incursions into the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif by Israeli settlers and extremist ministers under the protection of the Israeli police, in addition to the raising of the Israeli flag within its courtyards.

The ministers reaffirmed that these provocative actions in the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif represent a blatant breach of international law and international humanitarian law, and constitute unacceptable provocation to Muslims around the world, and a blatant violation of the sanctity of the holy city.

The ministers confirmed their absolute rejection of any attempts to change the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites, and emphasized the necessity of preserving it, recognizing the special role of the Hashemite custodianship in this regard.

The ministers also reaffirmed that the entire area of the Al-Aqsa Mosque/Al-Haram Al-Sharif, totaling 144 dunams, is a place of worship solely for Muslims, and that the administration of the Jerusalem Waqf and Al-Aqsa Mosque affairs under the Jordanian Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs and Holy Places is the legal authority with exclusive jurisdiction over the management of the mosque and organizing entry to it.

The ministers also condemned all illegal settlement activities, including Israel's approval of more than 30 new settlements, which constitutes a blatant violation of international law, including the decisions of the United Nations Security Council and the advisory opinion of the International Court of Justice for 2024.

The ministers also condemned the escalating violence by settlers against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, including recent attacks on schools and Palestinian children, demanding accountability for those responsible. They emphasized that Israel has no sovereignty over the occupied Palestinian territory and confirmed their absolute rejection of any attempts to annex it or displace the Palestinian people.

The ministers stressed that these measures represent a direct and systematic assault on the viability of the Palestinian state and on the implementation of the two-state solution, as well as fueling tensions and undermining peace efforts, and hindering ongoing initiatives aimed at de-escalation and restoring stability.

The ministers renewed their call for the international community to rise to its legal and moral responsibilities, and oblige Israel to stop its dangerous escalation in the occupied West Bank, and put an end to its unlawful practices.

The ministers demanded the international community take responsibility and take clear and decisive steps to stop these violations, and intensify all regional and international efforts to push towards a political solution that achieves comprehensive peace based on the two-state solution.

The ministers also renewed their steadfast support for the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including foremost their right to self-determination and to establish their independent state along the lines of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital.
