Controversy Surrounds Mr Beast Employee Files Harassment Suit for Years

Khaberni - A former employee working for the famous YouTuber Jimmy Donaldson known as "Mr Beast", filed a legal suit against his media company, after she claimed she was fired from her job as a social media manager when she returned from maternity leave, following years of what she described as sexual harassment and gender discrimination in the workplace.

Lauren Mavromatis filed a lawsuit in a federal court in North Carolina on Wednesday, accusing MrBeastYouTube and GameChanger 24/7 companies of violating the federal law that entitles qualified employees to unpaid leave with job protection for family and medical reasons, including childbirth.

Mavromatis also filed a complaint with the "Equal Employment Opportunity Commission", accusing it of gender and pregnancy discrimination, in addition to facing retaliatory actions.

Mavromatis said she worked "continuously" after giving birth to her child, even while she was in the delivery room. She added in an interview with "Associated Press": "I was still bleeding, yet I had to show up and work".

She also pointed out that she was fired less than three weeks after returning to full-time work.

The company responds
In return, a spokesperson for Beast Industries described the lawsuit in an official statement as a "complaint seeking attention", founded on "deliberate distortions and outright false statements".

According to the spokesperson, Lauren Mavromatis's job was eliminated as part of a team restructuring carried out by the new head of e-commerce.

The company also shared a conversation dated March 31, 2025, on the internal messaging app in the workplace "Slack", where a colleague told Mavromatis that she "shouldn't even be checking her messages or verifying them" after she cancelled a meeting because she wrote she was "actually in the process of giving birth at the hospital at this moment".

In response to the claims that "Mr Beast" company had not informed her of her rights under the Family and Medical Leave Act, the company presented a screenshot showing her signature confirming her receipt of the employee handbook, including the policies of this law.

As stated in the company's statement: "We will not succumb to opportunistic lawyers seeking to concoct financial gains from us".

"A toxic and male-dominated environment"
Moreover, Mavromatis's lawsuit raises troubling questions about the workplace environment behind YouTube's most famous content creator, at a time when the company's new leaders are seeking rapid expansion in the media empire founded by Jimmy Donaldson under the name MrBeast.

The lawsuit describes the work environment as "toxic and predominantly male-dominated", while the company says it has recently worked on addressing it, coinciding with the expansion of its projects into new fields such as television and financial services.

"Mr Beast" company, which employs about 700 people according to communications chief Goodyeh Bayz, continues its expansion, as it has recently embarked on a large-scale hiring campaign, attracting executives from companies like NBCUniversal and TikTok in an effort to build an identity that transcends Donaldson's name and image.

The lawsuit from Lauren Mavromatis comes ahead of the TIME100 magazine celebration scheduled on Thursday in New York City, where Jimmy Donaldson is set to be honored as one of the most influential people in the world, along with Pope Leo XIV, President Donald Trump, and New York Mayor Zahran Mamdani.
