Hassan Inspects Dead Sea Projects and Directs Their Opening for Independence Day

Khaberni  - Prime Minister Jafar Hassan, on Thursday, inspected the tourism services projects and the Dead Sea promenade that are being implemented by the Jordanian Group for Free Zones and Developmental Zones on the northern shore, and directed the necessary measures to complete their development in preparation for their inauguration on the occasion of Independence Day.

The project includes areas for strolling, parking spaces, commercial and tourist services, public facilities serving both local and international tourism, and will extend over an area of more than 200 dunams upon completion.

Hassan highlighted the importance of the comprehensive development project of the Dead Sea shore due to its positive social and economic impact on the local community, in addition to its effect on the national tourism product.

He emphasized the necessity of providing all services and requirements necessary to serve the citizens and visitors along the beach, maintaining them, and diversifying activities and events, to make the beach a place of relaxation for citizens and attractive to tourists from inside and outside the kingdom, especially during the current tourist season.

He listened to a briefing from the chairman of the group, engineer Sakhr Al-Ajlouni, about the comprehensive development project for the Dead Sea tourist beach, which aims to achieve integration between the "Tourist Beach" and the "Promenade", contributing to enhancing its competitiveness as a global tourist destination.

The project in its first phase includes developing the walkway on the Dead Sea beach to a length of 750 meters and the second phase to a length of 3 kilometers, which involves upgrading and beautifying the walkway area on the Dead Sea beach, providing it with family seating and shades, playgrounds and pools, sports units, service facilities, restaurants, and shops, and creating green spaces and sidewalks.

He pointed out that this project will contribute to providing many job opportunities for the local community’s sons and daughters, through small productive and commercial projects that will be established along the beach.

The comprehensive development plan for the beach includes providing additional activities and events in the Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II Park during the tourist season, to serve the visitors and picnickers and enrich their tourist experience.
