Khaberni - Boughezoul city in Medea province, south of the capital Algiers, experienced a tragic accident on Wednesday evening that resulted in the death of five people inside a sewage pumping station.
The Algerian Civil Protection services said that they recovered 5 bodies of individuals from inside the central sewage pumping station in Boughezoul city in Medea province, located 90 kilometers south of the capital Algiers.
They confirmed that "given the nature of the place and the danger of the operation, the Provincial Directorate of Civil Protection deployed special resources including four divers specialized in such incidents, an all-terrain intervention team, a rescue truck, and three ambulances."
They noted that "the bodies of the victims were transferred by the Civil Protection elements to the local hospital’s morgue," while the competent authorities started their investigations to determine the circumstances and causes of this grievous incident that shook the local community.
