Exciting Discovery Chance Leads to a Possible Statue of Ramses II

Khaberni - In an exciting incident, the "Tel Pharaoh" area in Sharqia Governorate in Egypt witnessed an archaeological discovery described as "great", where, quite by chance, a huge granite statue was found, thought to be one of the greatest kings of ancient Egypt, King Ramses II.

According to eyewitnesses, the statue was found during excavation work intended to prepare the land for the construction of a new youth and sports center in the area.

The workers at the site were surprised by a huge rock block which later turned out to be a large archaeological statue, weighing about 5.5 tons, which prompted a rapid response from the relevant authorities, and immediately, those responsible for the excavation handed the statue over to the "San el-Hagar" archaeological site under precise archaeological supervision, in preparation for its relocation and thorough examination.

Official sources and initial inspections indicated that this discovery is not just an ordinary statue, but a "double statue" representing two figures together, and was skillfully carved from hard granite stone, making it a huge artistic and historical piece added to the record of archaeological finds in the province.

On his part, an official source explained to local media that the land where the statue appeared is owned by the Ministry of Antiquities and is an area subject to excavations, and currently, intensive preparations are being made by archaeology experts to study the statue carefully; with the goal of determining the historical identity of the figures it represents, and understanding the Pharaonic era to which it belongs.
