Income Tax Department Calls for Filing 2025 Declarations Before the End of April to Avoid Penalties

Khaberni - The Income and Sales Tax Department urged taxpayers to expedite their income tax declarations for the fiscal year 2025 before April 30, the current legal deadline for filing declarations without incurring any penalties, emphasizing the need to initiate the payment of the declared tax before the end of the current month.

The department emphasized the necessity of filling the declarations with accurate financial data that reflects the real income of the taxpayers for the year 2025, stressing the importance of utilizing the remaining time of the current April to submit the declarations to avoid legal penalties.

The department clarified that there are fixed penalties for not submitting the declaration within the legal deadline, in addition to a penalty for delayed payment at a rate of (0.4%) weekly from the due tax amount or any part thereof.

The department explained that employees and workers with annual incomes exceeding 9,000 dinars for a single (non-supporting) person, or 18,000 dinars for supporters, are obligated to submit their tax declarations, confirming that monthly deductions from salaries do not nullify this obligation if income exceeds the exemption limit.

The department also called on retirees with monthly pension incomes over 2,500 dinars to submit their tax declarations for the year 2025.

The department noted that refund payments will be processed after the legal period for submitting the declarations ends, based on the priority of submission. Therefore, it urges the taxpayers to avoid delaying their submissions to the last days to prevent any possible delay, confirming that the services for submitting the declarations and paying the tax are available electronically with ease.

Furthermore, taxpayers are invited to contact the Taxpayer Services Center by phone or through the "WhatsApp" application at the number (062222130), or via social media platforms, to get support, answer inquiries, and follow procedures easily and conveniently.
