Khaberni - The Iranian Minister of Agriculture said that the naval blockade imposed by the United States had a negligible impact on the country's ability to secure essential commodities and food supplies, pointing to the strength of domestic production and the availability of alternative import routes.
Gholam Reza Nouri said on Tuesday "Despite the American naval blockade, we face no problem in securing basic goods and food items, as the country's vastness allows for imports through various borders."
He added, "About 85 percent of agricultural products and basic goods are produced locally, which means that the country's food security is assured," according to the IRNA news agency.
The United States imposed a naval blockade on Iranian ports and coasts on April 13, just days after a ceasefire was announced.
Tehran strongly criticized the blockade, considering it a violation of the ceasefire.
