Poll Americans Doubt Trumps Ability to Keep His Cool

Khaberni - The approval rating of Americans for President Donald Trump has reached its lowest level during his tenure, with many doubting his ability to keep his temper amid the war with Iran and the dispute with Pope Leo XIV, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll.

The poll, which lasted 6 days with the participation of 4557 adults across the United States and ended last Monday, showed that only 36% of Americans approve of Trump's performance in office, unchanged from the previous month.

According to the poll, many Americans, including members of the Republican Party to which Trump belongs, are concerned about the president's mood stability and mental presence at the age of 79 after a series of reactions in which he showed extreme nervous irritability.

Only 26% of Americans consider Trump to be a person difficult to anger. Opinions among Republicans are divided on this issue, as 53% consider him so, while 46% disagree, and a few survey participants refrained from answering this question. Only 7% of Democrats think Trump is difficult to provoke.

About 51% of Americans, including 14% of Republicans, 54% of Independents, and 85% of Democrats, believe that Trump's mental presence has deteriorated over the past year.

Trump received his highest approval rating during his current term, which was 47%, shortly after his inauguration on January 20, 2025.

Trump has been under pressure since his administration and Israel waged a war on Iran in late February, leading to a sharp increase in gasoline prices.

Trump's approval rating concerning his handling of the rising living costs in the United States is 26%, the lowest recorded so far. Similarly, only 26% of the survey participants believe that the US military action in Iran is worth the cost.

In recent weeks, Trump appeared tense and posted a threat on social media to erase Iranian civilization and threatened in a very severe tone to destroy all bridges and power stations there, as well as attacking Pope Leo and describing him as weak in the face of crime, following the Pope's criticism of the war on Iran.

Only 25% of survey participants, including 6% of Democrats and 57% of Republicans, believe that the US strikes on Iran will make America safer.

The president also alarmed his allies this year when he threatened to use military force against Denmark, a member of NATO, because of his demand to annex Greenland to the United States.

Based on the poll, only 16% of Americans support the United States' exit from NATO, a step Trump has threatened to take.
