Pakistan Thanks Trump for Extending Ceasefire

Khaberni - Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif thanked US President Donald Trump on Wednesday for accepting Islamabad's request to extend the ceasefire in the war, allowing for ongoing diplomatic efforts.

Sharif stated in a post on X platform, "I sincerely hope that both parties will continue to abide by the ceasefire and that they will be able to reach a comprehensive peace agreement during the second round of talks scheduled to be held in Islamabad, with the aim of permanently ending the conflict."

President Donald Trump announced the extension of the ceasefire with Tehran to allow more time for negotiations, but added that he would maintain the American blockade on the Iranian ports.

Trump wrote on his platform "Truth Social" that he would extend the ceasefire until Iran presents a proposal to end the war, noting that he has "issued instructions to the military to continue the blockade" imposed by the United States on the Iranian ports.

Trump's extension of the ceasefire came just hours before the deadline for its expiration.

This also comes after the White House announced that Vice President JD Vance would not go to Pakistan to attend what was supposed to be a second round of peace talks.

The US President attributed the cancellation of the talks that were scheduled to the internal strife within Iran, adding that the leaders of Pakistan had requested him to extend the truce.
