The expert clarifies the benefits of consuming dried apricots for the body, and at the same time specifies the groups that should be cautious when consuming them.
According to her, dried apricots are beneficial for:
1- Cardiovascular health: 100 grams contain about 70% of the daily requirement of potassium, which helps regulate heartbeats, lower blood pressure, and reduce the risk of strokes, with effects appearing within 2–4 weeks.
2- Digestive system: Due to its richness in fiber and pectin, it gently regulates bowel movement and promotes the growth of beneficial bacteria in the intestines. For optimal benefit, it is advised to soak them for 15–20 minutes before eating.
3- Bone health: As it contains boron and vitamin K, which help strengthen bone tissue and reduce the risk of osteoporosis, especially in women over the age of 45.
4- Eye health: It contains beta-carotene, lutein, and zeaxanthin, which protect the retina and reduce the risk of age-related eye diseases.
5- Weight control: It provides a long-lasting feeling of fullness, reduces the craving for sweets, and may slightly accelerate metabolism.
Risks and contraindications:
Eating more than 100 grams daily can lead to digestive disorders, increased blood sugar levels, or allergies.
Commercial dried apricots often contain sulfite compounds, which may cause headaches in sensitive individuals.
