Khaberni - Mosquitoes have been biting humans for more than a million years, transmitting several serious diseases, and they use specific signals such as scent, heat, and carbon dioxide in their targeting.
However, the human scent is complex, produced by more than a thousand volatile organic compounds plus skin bacteria, and people vary in their attractiveness to mosquitoes. In an article published in the journal BioRxiv, American scientists explained that they chose 119 individuals for their study and observed how attractive they were to three types of mosquitoes, including the Egyptian Aedes mosquito. It turned out that it is attracted to human scents with a clear preference for males. The scientists say that each type of mosquito responds differently to different people, and different mosquito species are not attracted to the same people.
