Khaberni - King Abdullah II held a meeting today, Sunday, with Finnish President Alexander Stubb at Al Husseiniya Palace, discussing ways to enhance bilateral relations and the main developments in the region.
The King, in the presence of Prince Hussein bin Abdullah II, the Crown Prince, affirmed that the Jordanian-Finnish partnership has gradually grown over more than 60 years, and that President Stubb's visit to the kingdom is an important opportunity to explore new areas of cooperation, such as education and technology.
In turn, the Finnish President expressed his gratitude to the King for the warm welcome, pointing out the similarity in the regional roles of both Finland and Jordan in their pursuit to achieve stability and resort to dialogue.
Stubb praised the King's wisdom and his ongoing efforts to achieve peace in the Middle East, expressing his eagerness to listen to His Majesty's vision and Jordan's perspective on the overall developments in the region.
During the discussions, the King pointed out that the strategic location of the kingdom and its regional role form a solid basis for partnership and dialogue with Finland, emphasizing the importance of joint efforts in enhancing dialogue and finding peaceful solutions.
The King indicated that international cooperation is more important now than ever, reaffirming Jordan's continued support for efforts to achieve peace in the region, in coordination with partners like Finland and the European Union.
Speaking of regional developments, the King stressed the importance of leading a ceasefire between the United States and Iran to end the war and be followed by further measures to reduce tensions and enhance stability.
The King emphasized the necessity that the ceasefire in Lebanon leads to an end to the Israeli aggression, enabling Lebanon to maintain its sovereignty and security.
The King called on the international community to stop any Israeli attempts to exploit regional conditions as a pretext to impose a new reality in Jerusalem, Gaza, and the West Bank, given that they undermine peace opportunities and threaten to drag the region into an endless conflict.
The discussions were attended by the Chief of the Joint Staff, Major General Yousef Al-Huneiti, the King's Office Director, Alaa Batayneh, Minister of Digital Economy and Entrepreneurship Sami Samirat, head of the honor mission accompanying the guest, non-resident Jordanian Ambassador to Finland Faiz Khouri, and non-resident Finnish Ambassador to Jordan, Anni Miskanen.
