Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and Expatriates Affairs Ayman Safadi met on Sunday, in Brussels, with the Norwegian Minister of Foreign Affairs Espen Barth Eide on the eve of a meeting of the Ad Hoc Liaison Committee (AHLC), which is dedicated to coordinating international aid provided to the Palestinian people and is chaired by Norway and hosted by the European Union.
Safadi emphasized during the meeting the importance of this gathering in mobilizing support for the Palestinian economy, which has been under significant pressure primarily due to Israel's refusal to pay the Palestinian National Authority its dues from custom revenues.
During their discussion, Safadi and Eide reviewed the situations in Gaza and the occupied West Bank, where Safadi confirmed the necessity of implementing President Donald Trump's plan for Gaza in all its articles.
Safadi also warned of the catastrophic consequences if Israel continues its illegitimate actions in the occupied West Bank, which undermine all chances of achieving a just peace.
Safadi appreciated the positions of Norway and its efforts to achieve a just peace based on the two-state solution, noting the importance of the role it and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia played last year in organizing the ministerial meeting of the international alliance to implement the two-state solution and mobilizing international support for it.
Safadi and Eide discussed prospects for restoring sustainable regional calm after reaching a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran. They also discussed the situation in Lebanon after the ceasefire and the efforts made to ensure its continuation.
Safadi and Eide affirmed the commitment of both kingdoms to enhance the partnership relations between them and to develop cooperation in various fields.
