Khaberni - Deputy Lubna Al Nimer directed a parliamentary question to the Prime Minister regarding the details of the agreements signed between the Jordanian government and the Emirati side, concerning the Aqaba Port railway project.
Al Nimer based her question on the provisions of the Constitution and the internal regulations of the House of Representatives, demanding disclosure of the legal, financial, and technical aspects of the project, including the partnership mechanism between the two sides and the ownership and management percentages in the joint company to be established.
She also inquired about the extent to which the agreements were presented to the competent constitutional authorities, the value of the financial obligations that might be incurred by the government, as well as the duration of the concession and the fate of the project's assets after its completion.
Al Nimer requested clarification on the results of the economic and environmental feasibility studies, the expected returns on the national economy, and the number of job opportunities the project will provide, alongside guarantees that ensure the protection of national interests and prevent monopolization.
The question also included an inquiry into the entity responsible for supervising and monitoring the implementation of the project, and how it is linked to the regional railway connectivity plans with neighboring countries.
