Meta Raises Prices of Quest 3 and 3S Virtual Reality Headsets Globally

Khaberni - Meta announced an increase in the prices of its virtual reality headsets, a step that reflects the impact of the memory chips crisis on the consumer electronics sector.

Increases start from April 19
According to an official statement, the new prices will take effect starting April 19, with the price of the Meta Quest 3S in both its versions (128 and 256 gigabytes) increasing by $50 to reach $349.99 and $449.99 respectively.

The Meta Quest 3 device will see an even greater rise of $100, bringing its price up to $599.99.

Component costs increase
Meta explained that the decision comes as a result of a significant increase in the cost of manufacturing devices, especially with the global rise in memory chip prices, which are a key component in virtual reality devices.

The company added that this increase affects most categories of electronic devices, which has led them to adjust prices to maintain product quality and the support provided to users.

Impact includes refurbished devices
The company confirmed that the new prices will also apply to refurbished devices, while accessory prices will remain unchanged for the time being.

Wave of increases hits the sector
Meta joins a growing list of tech companies that have raised their product prices due to the memory crisis, including Samsung, Microsoft, and Sony.

Sustained pressures on the market
This trend indicates continuing pressures on the technology devices market, amid supply chain disruptions and rising component costs, which may reflect on the prices of more products in the upcoming period.
