Jordan Prison sentences in the fake alcohol case after 16 people died

Khaberni - The Grand Criminal Court, on Thursday, issued its decision in the case of "counterfeit alcoholic beverages", which resulted in the death of 16 people, prosecuting 29 suspects and accused.

The court decided to modify the charges from "murder" to "causing death" repeated 16 times, and sentenced two defendants to 10 years of temporary forced labor, being the production manager in the factory and the purchasing manager.

The court also sentenced one defendant to one year in prison for mixing "ethanol" with "methanol", committing the crime of adulterating food unfit for consumption.

The decision also included fining a suspect who sold alcoholic beverages in the Ghor area an amount of 3,000 dinars for the misdemeanor of dealing with food without a license, while the court acquitted 21 suspects and accused from the charges attributed to them.
