Khaberni - The Amman Criminal Court issued a strict ruling of temporary labor for a period of 4 years against a man who disfigured his ex-wife's face using a "scalpel," in execution of a previous threat in which he said "I will make street dogs disgusted by looking at her face."
The court convicted the accused of committing:
Felony of harm: According to the provisions of Article 334 repeated/1 and by reference to Article 337 of the Penal Code.
Misdemeanor of carrying and possessing a sharp tool: According to the provisions of Articles 155 and 156 of the same law.
Details of "the premeditated crime": Planned quietly and with premeditation
The facts of the decision revealed a series of retaliatory actions adopted by the accused:
Resolution of purpose: The accused was determined to commit the act calmly and with foresight, following disputes and cases pending in Sharia courts.
Luring and confirmation: The accused contacted the victim the day before the crime to confirm the time she would leave to attend a session in the Sharia court.
Apartment ambush: On the morning of the incident, the accused went to the residence of his ex-wife armed with a "scalpel", and lay in wait for her inside the building (on the stairs leading to the roof) to ensure she did not see him.
The moment of assault and flight
As soon as the accused heard the sound of the door of the victim's apartment, he went down to her and attacked her, pushing her inside the home.
There, he delivered several strikes with the sharp tool to the right side of her face and her nose, then fled quickly.
Witness testimony and camera footage
A witness (from the neighbors) reported that she heard the victim's screams, and during her ascent, she encountered the accused as he was running.
When she asked him why he was there, he claimed that he "came to greet her" without stopping.
By extracting surveillance camera footage, the presence of the accused was confirmed in the early morning and his disguise on the stairs before he went down towards the apartment and later fled.
Medical report confirms disfigurement
The initial medical report issued by Al-Tutanji Hospital confirmed the presence of deep cut wounds on the face and nose, reflecting the severity of the assault that permanently targeted the victim's safety and beauty.
