A single message ends 1000 jobs The new Disney CEO shakes Hollywood with a sudden layoff

Khaberni - In a shocking move that shook Hollywood, Walt Disney Company announced the layoff of about 1000 employees, in one of the first major decisions by the new CEO Josh D’Amaro, sparking a wave of concern within one of the largest entertainment empires in the world.

The announcement came through an internal email described as "harsh", sent by D’Amaro on Tuesday morning to employees, where he affirmed that the company is facing rapidly accelerating challenges that require a comprehensive restructuring of the workforce.

In his message, he said: "As the pace of change in our industries accelerates, it has become essential to reassess how to build a workforce that is more flexible, keeps pace with technology, and capable of meeting future requirements," according to the "New York Post".

The decision was not limited to one sector, but included a wide range of company departments, from film and television production studios to the sports network "ESPN", reflecting the depth of transformation the company is undergoing.

This step comes at a time when the entertainment industry is undergoing radical transformations, driven by changes in viewing habits and the rise of digital streaming platforms, which pushes major companies to reduce expenses and reorganize their priorities.

Wave of layoffs
In recent days, similar surprising decisions were made, as "Oracle", a global American company specializing in information technology and databases, at the end of March (March) carried out a wide round of layoffs affecting about 30,000 employees, nearly a fifth of its global workforce, via an email sent to employees at dawn.

Meanwhile, "Meta" also proceeded to lay off hundreds of employees in March. A spokesperson for the company, in a talk to "Business Insider", said that the process comes as part of restructuring the company's business or implementing changes periodically to ensure its optimal position to achieve its goals.

The spokesperson justified that Meta has about 79,000 people by the end of 2025, which means that the layoffs reflect a small percentage of its workforce, according to him.
