Washington and Tehran are considering returning to negotiations amid a maritime escalation and blockade

Khaberni -  Four sources told Reuters on Tuesday that it could be possible for the negotiation teams from the United States and Iran to return to Islamabad this week, days after the highest-level talks between the two countries since 1979 in the Pakistani capital ended without any breakthrough.

Pakistani Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif said on Monday that the ceasefire between the United States and Iran is "holding," affirming continued efforts to reach an agreement after the failure of the Islamabad talks over the weekend.

U.S. Vice President JD Vance, in statements made early Sunday, announced that the United States had not reached an agreement with Iran on the nuclear issue, stating: "We are returning to Washington without reaching an agreement with the Iranians."

Vance said that "the ball is in Tehran's court" regarding the resumption of the talks, emphasizing that the coming days will be crucial to determine the possibility of reaching a comprehensive agreement with Iran.

The United States began enforcing a maritime blockade on Iran on Monday evening, following the failure of negotiations regarding the cessation of the war that began on February 28 last year.
