Khaberni - Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said, "Stability will not return to southern Lebanon as long as Israel continues to occupy lands there," confirming that the only solution lies in "the Lebanese army redeploying up to the internationally recognized borders, and being solely responsible for the security of the area and the safety of its residents without partnership from any party."
Aoun added during his reception of the Italian Chief of Defense Staff General Luciano Portolano: "We welcome Italy's desire to keep its forces in southern Lebanon after the completion of the UNIFIL withdrawal period at the end of the year 2027, at which time there will be an agreement on the formula that will oversee the stay of these forces and other forces of countries participating in UNIFIL, which have informed Lebanon of their intention to continue assisting the Lebanese army in maintaining stability in the south.
