Netanyahu sets two conditions to start direct negotiations with Lebanon

Khaberni - Prime Minister Israeli Benjamin Netanyahu made disarmament of "Hezbollah" and establishing permanent peace as preconditions for direct negotiations with Lebanon.

The Israeli Prime Minister agreed to start direct talks with Lebanon, noting that the Lebanese side had initiated contact with Israel several times over the past month for this purpose, which had never happened before. Netanyahu agreed to proceed with two clear conditions: the first is the complete disarmament of Hezbollah, and the second is to reach a "real peace agreement that lasts for generations".

Netanyahu justified these positions by stating that "Israel is gaining increasing strength in the region," asserting that "strength attracts others to us."

He described his country as "small in size but immense in spirit and determination, and has already become the strongest regional and indeed global power." He also praised the role of Israeli pilots and air crews, considering what has been achieved represents a "huge change," but he added: "We still have more to do," emphasizing that these new Lebanese contacts have driven him to agree to the negotiations under his declared conditions.

In parallel with these statements, the Israeli forces continue to launch violent and repeated attacks on Lebanese territory, with an explicit Israeli refusal to declare any permanent ceasefire. Israeli sources confirm that any comprehensive calm is contingent upon resolving the Iranian file first, and not accepting any temporary agreement before achieving concrete and satisfactory results from the ongoing American-Iranian negotiations in Islamabad.
