Why Shouldnt a Child Have a Smartphone Before the Age of 11

Khaberni - Dr. Tatiana Tsvetkova, an educational science specialist, reports that the use of electronic devices by children before the age of 11 can harm their psyche, vision, and development.

Dr. Tatiana Tsvetkova says, "It is not advisable to buy a personal smartphone for a child before the age of eleven. Until that age, they can use a regular phone with buttons to easily communicate with the family when needed. It’s better to link phone purchases to responsibility and the child’s readiness to accept new rules, as very early use of a smartphone can harm a child's development."

She added that spending a long time on the internet without supervision, playing games, and receiving inappropriate information for children, all negatively affect their psyche, and could instill inappropriate concepts in their minds. Therefore, children under the age of seven should not be exposed to screens for long periods, as this can weaken their peripheral vision, which is a serious matter.

She continued, "A phone should not be handed over to a child directly, but rather agreed upon beforehand, as parental control over the phone is necessary, and this matter should be openly discussed with the child. It is also preferable to set internet usage hours in advance in accordance with the family's daily routine. For example, using the internet after school and after completing homework, within a specified time."
