United States Withdrawal of a Chocolate Sexual Supplement for Containing Erectile Dysfunction Drugs

Khaberni - A chocolate-flavored herbal dietary supplement for enhancing sexual performance was withdrawn from the American markets after it was found to contain pharmaceutical substances used to treat erectile dysfunction, raising health concerns.

The company "Nalpak", based in Michigan, issued a warning about its product, DTF Sexual Chocolate, which was sold in adult stores and online, marketed as a performance enhancer for sexual activities.

Tests revealed that the product contained "sildenafil" and "tadalafil", the active ingredients in the drugs "Viagra" and "Cialis", which are prescription-only in the United States.

Experts warn that consuming this chocolate could be risky, especially when used with other drugs such as "nitroglycerin" for treating chest pain, as it could lead to a sharp drop in blood pressure, potentially causing serious complications up to organ failure or death.

This risk is due to these drugs working by dilating blood vessels and lowering blood pressure, which makes combining them potentially more dangerous.

The product was sold in eye-catching golden and purple packages, with instructions advising to take it about 30 minutes before intimate relations, and to be shared between partners.

The company clarified that it did not manufacture the chocolate itself, but obtained it from an external supplier and distributed it, confirming that there have been no registered health cases related to it so far.

Nalpak urged consumers to immediately stop using the product, dispose of it or return it to the point of purchase for a refund, and recommended consulting health authorities if any unusual symptoms appear.

The company stated that the product was sold in packages containing 20 pieces intended for retail sale and carries the identification code (UPC): 757817783069, without specifying the number of units that were withdrawn.

It is still unclear how these pharmaceutical substances were added to the product, although promotional materials only mentioned herbal components like Siberian ginseng and maca root, claiming to enhance the sexual experience.

This withdrawal is part of a series of similar incidents, as other products from different companies were withdrawn within the same month after they were found to contain the same pharmaceutical materials.

Doctors emphasize the importance of being cautious with these products, noting that an overdose of these drugs can lead to side effects such as headaches, dizziness, and indigestion, and in severe cases, it may cause heart issues, a dangerous drop in blood pressure, or a prolonged erection requiring urgent medical intervention.
