Dr Mohammad Ali Maaytah Achieves a Jordanian Accomplishment in Cosmetic Reconstructive and Oral Face and Neck Surgeries

Khaberni - In a high-level international scientific scene, the events of the International Conference on Cosmetic, Reconstructive, and Burn Surgeries concluded in Cairo, Arab Republic of Egypt. It was held concurrently with the Egyptian and International Conference on Maxillofacial Surgery and Skull Base Surgery, attracting notable global attendance exceeding four thousand surgeons representing over 80 countries. This clearly indicates the prestige of this event as a scientific platform despite the current political challenges. Dr. Mohammad Ali Maaytah represented The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Petra University.
The conference was sponsored by a distinguished group of Egyptian academic and medical institutions, notably Al-Azhar University, Egypt University of Science and Technology, Egyptian University of Peace, Alexandria University, and the Saudi German Hospital, the gold sponsor of both conferences, in addition to global associations leading in the fields of cosmetic, reconstructive, and facial/maxillofacial and neck surgery, thus giving it significant scientific and organizational weight.
The conference activities included the presentation of over 79 advanced scientific lectures, alongside conducting 6 unique and rare surgeries including two by Dr. Maaytah for a newborn boy and girl born without jaws, where he implanted the jaws using a method for the first time globally—(Maaytah Technique in Advanced Facial Deformations)
Both surgeries were a remarkable success in front of the world, fitting the name of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and Petra University. Additionally, 10 specialized workshops were organized, which all reflected the level of scientific and technological advancement in the fields of cosmetic, reconstructive, and maxillofacial surgery.
For enhancing scientific integrity and academic competition, a prestigious international jury consisting of 12 global professors, representing the most revered international societies of cosmetic, reconstructive, and burn surgery, and societies of oral, facial and maxillofacial surgery included:

- British Association of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery “BAPRAS”
- International Society for Plastic Surgery “ISPS”
- European Association of Facial Plastic Surgery "EAFPS"-

- British Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery “BAOMS”-

- American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery “AOMFS”
- International Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery
“IAOMFS”,
to honor 12 nominated surgeons who were endorsed by their respective international societies based on precise criteria that included surgical performance, training, research, academic achievement, community service, and management on both a local and international level.

In conclusion of the conference, in an atmosphere of refined competitive spirit reflecting the fellowship of science, the final results for selecting the top five most influential surgeons globally, academically, research-oriented, humanitarian, and managerial with a total of cumulative points and online votes from the international committees were announced as follows:

Both Dr. Mohammad Maaytah and Dr. Neil Boulstrode received special joint recognition (equally for the number of points), in appreciation of their pioneering humanitarian role in establishing four international non-profit organizations (NGOs) over the past two years, which are concerned with treating facial and neck deformities in newborns and children. Through these initiatives, they have provided hundreds of free surgeries in less fortunate areas of Africa, India, the Philippines, and the Middle East, in a model that blends science with compassion.

In a diplomatic, humanitarian, and encouraging gesture that reflects the interest and support of His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein and His Crown Prince, among the first to congratulate Dr. Mohammad Maaytah, honoring the pride of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on this achievement, was His Excellency Amjad Al-Adayleh, the Jordanian Ambassador to Egypt, who hosted Dr. Maaytah at the Jordanian Embassy in Cairo, praising his scientific and humanitarian contributions that elevate our beloved Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan on both regional and international levels.

Dr. Maaytah was also honored by the Egyptian Society for Cosmetic, Reconstructive, and Burn Surgery, chaired by Professor Dr. Tareq El Banoubi, president of the International Conference on Cosmetic, Burn, and Facial, Jaw, and Neck Surgeries, in the presence of Professor Dr. Abdel Fattah Seddik, president of the Egyptian University of Peace, and Professor Dr. Mohammad Awad El Marakby, president of the Egyptian Society for Cosmetic, Reconstructive, and Burn Surgery. His continuous humanitarian contributions from 2014 for treating patients and war wounded, especially children from Egypt and the Gaza Strip, collaborating with Dr. Ghassan Abu Sittah have involved hundreds of complex surgeries for women, children, and elderly, and his unwavering humanitarian efforts following the recent aggression, particularly in treating deformities and fractures of the face and chemically-induced burns in Amman, the capital of The Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, with special recommendations from King Abdullah II bin Al Hussein and His Crown Prince for Jordanian doctors for our steadfast people in Gaza.

This accomplishment not only represents individual success but truly reflects the status of Jordanian capabilities in global forums, and a clear message that combining scientific excellence with human commitment is the highest path to genuine leadership in modern medicine. You are not only proud of yourself, Dr. Mohammad Maaytah, but the entire Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan and the Arab nation are proud of you.
