A Hidden Cause for Cataracts

Khaberni - A recent medical study showed that high chronic inflammation levels in the body might lead to cataracts or cataract.
During the research, scientists analyzed medical data of more than 8,000 people, obtained from the widespread NHANES study, and assessed specific indicators reflecting the level of inflammation in the body and the nutritional status, comparing these results with data related to cataracts in participants.

The researchers found that the higher the indicators of chronic systemic inflammation in the body, the higher the probability of a person developing cataracts, and this correlation continued regardless of factors such as age, gender, smoking, and diabetes.
The researchers pointed out that systemic inflammations are long-term inflammatory processes, often unnoticeable or showing no clear symptoms, but they gradually damage some body tissues, possibly affecting the lens and contributing to its clouding. Moreover, the imbalance of nutrients in the body might play a significant role in this matter.

The authors of the study confirmed that the results indicate that controlling inflammation in the body and adopting a healthy and balanced diet can help prevent the risk of developing cataracts.
