Khaberni - A little child revealed the details of a shocking and appalling family crime that led the security forces to solve the mystery of his mother's disappearance.
Last Ramadan, a man reported his wife missing, but their child's testimony led the security to discover a dreadful crime committed by the husband who hid his wife's body inside an agricultural drainage well.
The security forces determined that the husband (32 years old) had strangled his wife to death following accumulated disputes between them on the night of the 27th of Ramadan. After committing the crime, he attempted to dispose of the body by throwing it into a drainage well in the village of El-Toud in the Itay El-Barud area of Beheira Governorate, and then filed a false report claiming her disappearance to divert suspicion from himself.
However, the testimony of their young son changed the course of events after he witnessed his father assaulting his mother, and his testimony was the thread that unveiled the truth to the prosecution. As the pressure on the suspect tightened, he broke down and confessed to all details of the crime.
The river rescue forces managed to retrieve the body, and the prosecution conducted a photographic inspection of the scene and method of the crime, and ordered the suspect's detention pending investigations.
The suspect was referred to trial, and the Damanhur Criminal Court, presided over by Counselor Hossam El-Sayyad, sentenced the accused to life imprisonment.
