Refugee Commission We provided 38 million in aid to more than 214000 refugees in Jordan last year

Khaberni - The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees in Jordan said it provided cash assistance to more than 214,000 of the most vulnerable refugees, men, women, and children, in 2025, with a total value of nearly $38 million.

The annual assessment of the Commission showed that more than 90% of the beneficiaries recorded an improvement in their living standards and an increase in financial stability, in addition to a decrease in stress and life pressures.

The Commission confirmed that it will continue to provide assistance to refugees who choose voluntary return to Syria. Meanwhile, a survey of refugee intentions regarding return and their perception of conditions showed that the majority of refugees do not plan to return in the near future.

The Commission added that during the past year, more than 74,000 refugees received legal aid and advisory services from the Commission and its partners.

The Commission pointed out that during the period from December 8, 2024, to December 31, 2025, more than 177,000 refugees from Jordan returned to Syria, among them about 173,000 refugees during the year 2025 alone, while data indicates that more than 186,000 refugees have returned as of March 7 last.

It is worth mentioning that the Commission received about $115,037,596 in total financial support in 2025, which represents 31% of the total funding required, resulting in an estimated funding gap of $257,799,380, equivalent to 69% of the total funding required.

The Commission had indicated that its budget needs for the year 2026 are estimated at $280 million, to maintain services for those who choose to stay in Jordan and support voluntary return to Syria.
