They do not seem old and get diseases later what is the secret

Khaberni - Delaying aging remains one of the most significant challenges that occupy scientists around the world, where longevity and genetics expert Nisha Chilam states that genes play a bigger role than previously thought in determining the rate at which humans age.

In a report published by "Huffington Post", Chilam explains, based on recent research that dealt with the impact of genetics on life expectancy, that what is known as "longevity genes" serve as a supportive mechanism for the body, aiding in the repair of DNA damage.

She adds that individuals who carry these genes "experience chronic disease in later stages of life, and the aging process is slower for them."

For many years, studies suggested that genetic factors explain between 20% and 25% of the expected average lifespan.

Some recent analyses have reduced this percentage to about 6% only. However, new research that excluded deaths from external causes such as accidents or infections has revealed that the genetic factor may explain approximately 55% of lifespan.

This means that more than half of the chances of living longer could be linked to DNA, while about 45% depend on controllable factors such as diet, physical activity, sleep quality, and healthcare.

The longevity specialist points out that individuals who possess these genes tend to develop chronic diseases later compared to others. This is due to the slower aging of body organs, whether in blood vessels, the brain, bones, or the heart, which grants them many more years of good health.

These genes also serve as protective mechanisms that help cells repair damage and maintain their efficiency, thereby delaying the onset of age-related diseases such as heart disease, dementia, and osteoporosis.

However, Chilam emphasizes that genes are not the only factor. Healthy habits remain crucial in determining the aging process. A balanced diet, exercise, sufficient sleep, and reducing stress all contribute to reducing inflammation and oxidative stress, which are factors associated with accelerated aging.

The doctor concludes that the secret to longevity might be simpler than many think: "exercise, good nutrition, sufficient sleep, reducing stress, and strong social relationships."
