15 Minutes a Day Can Save You from Heart Disease

Khaberni - A recent scientific study has revealed that slightly increasing sleep and physical effort daily may help reduce the risk of strokes and heart diseases.

A research team from various universities including Sydney, Monash in Australia, and Sao Paulo in Brazil, stated that any daily increase, even a limited one in sleep and physical effort rates combined with eating healthy foods significantly reduces the likelihood of developing cardiovascular diseases.

The study, published in the European Journal of Preventive Cardiology concerned with heart diseases, included more than 53,000 adults over the course of eight years, and researchers found that an additional 11 minutes of sleep and four and a half minutes of physical effort, along with eating an amount equivalent to a quarter cup of vegetables daily, reduces the chances of developing arterial diseases by up to 10%.

The nature of the required physical effort to improve health includes some daily habits, such as: speeding up walking when moving from one place to another, climbing stairs on foot instead of using elevators, and carrying shopping bags for example.

Researchers found that this simple effort helps improve health overall, and that the maximum benefit is achieved when getting between eight to nine hours of sleep each night, exerting physical effort for 42 minutes a day, and eating moderate healthy meals.

Researchers mentioned that adhering to these healthy behaviors reduces the risk of heart disease by 57% compared to people who do not follow healthy life standards.
