Israelis Depart via Egypt at Unbelievable Prices

Khaberni - "The Marker" Israeli newspaper reported that the Egyptian Taba airport has become the main travel hub for those wishing to leave Israel as soon as possible.

The Hebrew newspaper explained that this comes in the midst of restrictions imposed on Ben Gurion Airport due to security tensions and recent Iranian missile attacks, which has made the Egyptian airport a "major escape gateway".

It pointed out that Israeli airlines had sold dozens of flights at record prices, creating long waiting queues at the crossing, while additional costs accumulate for travelers step by step, starting from a crossing fee of 120 shekels per person to transportation and temporary accommodation costs in Sinai.

The newspaper mentioned that the scene before the Jewish Passover saw hundreds of Israelis, including many Haredi families speaking English and French, trying to reach their native countries to celebrate the festival, after some had spent a full night in Eilat following the activation of alarm sirens due to drones breaching the borders.

"The Marker" noted that many of these travelers confirm that their return will only be possible when flying through Ben Gurion Airport becomes feasible again, considering the Taba journey a temporary solution imposed by the current security conditions that made the land crossing with Egypt an alternative lifeline to the partially closed Israeli airports.
