Khaberni - British Defense Minister John Healey said on Tuesday that the UK plans to send additional air defense forces and equipment to help its allies in the Middle East amid ongoing Iranian attacks.
Healey conducted a tour of the Middle East, visiting Saudi Arabia, Qatar, and Bahrain.
The British Ministry of Defense stated in a statement that Healey held talks with allies, during which they discussed the situation of the Strait of Hormuz and the enhancement of cooperation between Britain and the Gulf countries in the field of regional security.
The statement said that Britain will deploy the Sky Saber system in Saudi Arabia, a land-based air defense system used by the British army.
Healey reported the extension of the deployment of British Typhoon fighters in Qatar, where Britain operates a joint squadron with Qatar.
The ministry added that the (British lightweight multi-role missile launcher) is now in Bahrain, where it is being integrated into the country's air defense systems.
Healey told reporters that British forces will assist in the installation and operation of the new air defense systems and the training on them, and approximately a thousand soldiers are expected to be deployed across the Middle East to help "protect the skies and enhance air defences".
In a written statement issued by the ministry, Healey said, "I commend the heroic efforts our partners across the Gulf are making to protect their countries. We will stand with our partners in the Middle East for the long term, and we will continue to push for a quick resolution to this conflict."
