Khaberni - American President Donald Trump hinted on Monday that the Iran war might be nearing its end, in the latest episode of a series of statements in which he hinted at the possibility of the war ending, which amounted to around 12.
"Axios" mentioned that Trump’s messages about the end of the Iran war are "volatile and inconsistent," as he seeks to convince the American public that the conflict will not evolve into a prolonged war.
The United States has now entered its fifth week of the Iran war, exceeding Trump’s original timeline of four to five weeks. Washington has sent about 50,000 troops to the Middle East as part of the ongoing conflict, with no signs of an imminent end.
Over the past 5 weeks, Trump announced about 12 times that the war is nearing its end, or that it has already been won.
Here are 12 times Trump mentioned the near end of the war:
1. On March 30, Trump threatened on "Truth Social" to "destroy" Iran's energy and water infrastructure if a deal to end the war was not reached, saying: "If the Strait of Hormuz is not immediately opened, we will conclude our lovely stay in Iran" by attacking those facilities.
2. Trump said in a cabinet meeting on March 26: "They have been defeated, and they cannot come back."
3. On March 24, Trump said the war had already ended and that Iran would see a regime change: "We won this war. This war has been won."
4. Trump hinted at a possible peace deal in the Iran war on March 23 in a post in capital letters on "Truth Social," stating that the United States and Iran had very productive talks about a peace agreement, adding: "If a deal is not reached, we will continue bombing non-stop."
5. Trump said in an interview with Fox News on March 13 that the war would end when he "feels it in his heart," but he added that he does not expect it to last long before it completely ends.
6. Trump gave a straightforward assessment of the war on March 12, saying: "It is almost at an end. That doesn’t mean we're going to end it right away... just a matter of time."
7. Trump told Axios on March 11 that the war with Iran would end "soon" because there is "practically nothing else to target," and added that the war would end "anytime I want to end it."
8. On the same day, Trump told a crowd: "We don't like to say early that we've won. We have won. Within the first hour, it was over." Minutes later, he added: "We don’t want to leave early, do we? We have to finish the mission, right?"
9. Trump hinted that the United States had already achieved victory in the war during a speech at the Republican Issues Conference on March 9, saying: "We have already won in many respects, but we haven’t won enough. We continue with greater determination to achieve the ultimate victory that will eliminate this long-term threat once and for all."
10. On March 9, Trump said the Iran war would end "very soon," and that Iran "has completely disappeared. We can now consider it a major success."
11. Trump praised the success again at a press conference on March 2 to award the Medal of Honor to three American soldiers and said: "We will prevail easily... whatever the cost."
12. Trump described the operation as a complete success in an interview with ABC News on March 2, just days after the war began: "No one else could have done it, and you know that"
