Oil Prices Rise by More Than 3 After Targeting a Kuwaiti Oil Tanker

Khaberni - U.S. crude futures prices recorded a rise of more than $3 after Kuwait announced the targeting of one of its oil tankers.

The American crude surpassed the $106 per barrel mark following an announcement by the Kuwait Petroleum Corporation early Tuesday, stating that one of its oil tankers was directly targeted by an "Iranian aggression" while it was in Dubai port in the UAE, resulting in a fire onboard.

A statement from the corporation said: "The Kuwaiti crude oil tanker Al-Salmi was directly targeted by the heinous Iranian aggression while it was in the Mina area of Dubai port in the UAE."

At the time of the incident, the tanker was fully loaded.

The attack caused structural damage to the ship and ignited a fire onboard, with the possibility of oil leaking into the surrounding waters.
