Khaberni - Minister of Industry, Trade, and Supply Yarub Al-Qudah confirmed that the ministry has a comprehensive and integrated plan to deal with the consequences of disturbances in the region, ensuring the continuity of supply chains and the availability of essential goods and their price stability.
Al-Qudah explained that the ministry is working to enhance the strategic stock of essential goods in cooperation and partnership with the private sector, which shows high levels of responsibility and cooperation in supporting and enhancing the kingdom’s stockpile.
He pointed out that the ministry is implementing effective and intensive monitoring plans in various provinces of the kingdom, aimed at monitoring the availability of goods and price stability, daily market monitoring, and combating any attempts to manipulate prices or refrain from selling or hoarding, emphasizing that the ministry will not relent in applying the strictest penalties against violators, according to the laws and regulations governing the markets.
He noted that the ministry would intervene directly to control prices if any exaggerated or unjustified discrepancies between production or import costs and selling prices are detected, especially with regard to essential supply goods, through setting price ceilings that ensure fairness for citizens and market stability.
He affirmed that the government supports both civil and military institutions, aiming to secure the required quantities of essential and supply materials at reasonable prices for citizens.
He added that the ministry continues its ongoing coordination with the private sector, working to facilitate all procedures that ensure the smooth flow of supply chains for various goods, confirming that the supply situation in the kingdom is under control, and that the quantities available of essential goods are significant and reassuring, with the continued normal flow of imports whether through land border crossings or through the port of Aqaba, with no notable changes to supplies.
Al-Qudah pointed out that the currently available wheat stock in the kingdom, along with the quantities contracted, is sufficient for more than 10 months, while the barley stock covers about 8 months. There are also sufficient quantities of other essential goods such as sugar, rice, oils, and legumes for periods ranging from two and a half to three months approximately.
