Khaberni - Less than three months remain until the first glance at the smarter and enhanced version of Apple's voice assistant "Siri", focusing on "Siri" updates in the iOS 27 operating system update, and rumors are growing about what to expect.
There is a full version of a chatbot for "Siri" under development, which will change the way users use Apple's personal assistant.
"Siri" is expected to become closer to chatbots like "Claude" and "Chat GPT", which represents a significant improvement in how it works and its capabilities, according to a report by the technology news site "MacRumors", viewed by "Al Arabiya Business".
Apple plans to introduce Siri's chatbot capabilities when announcing iOS 27, iPadOS 27, and macOS 27 during its Worldwide Developers Conference starting Monday, June 8.
Siri Chatbot
With the release of iOS 27, Apple will change the way "Siri" works. Currently, "Siri" can answer common questions and perform simple tasks, but it cannot engage in two-way conversation, or help with multi-step tasks, or ask complex questions.
According to current rumors about the "Siri" chatbot, "Siri" will be able to do all this and more with the upcoming update, and will operate just like competing chatbots.
Initially, Apple did not plan to launch a full-blown chatbot like "Chat GPT", but chatbots have become so popular that Apple cannot ignore them.
Simply adding artificial intelligence capabilities to applications and features is not enough for Apple to maintain its competitive ability in the midst of the huge demand for chatbots in everything from internet searches to programming assistance.
Google has already integrated the "Gemini" chatbot into its Android-powered devices, and chatbots like "Chat GPT" have hundreds of millions of active users weekly.
Standalone Siri App
As "Siri" evolves into a dedicated chatbot designed by Apple, it will be launched alongside a standalone "Siri" app. The "Siri" app will resemble apps from other companies like "Open AI", displaying a network or list of previous conversations.
"Siri" will support text and voice conversations, with options to add conversations to favorites, search within them, start new conversations, and save conversations. Conversations with "Siri" will resemble iMessage conversations, adopting Apple's chat bubble style.
New conversations will start with suggestions for what users might ask Siri.
Deep Integration
Despite having a standalone app for Siri conversations, "Siri" will be deeply integrated into Apple devices at the system level.
"Siri" will be activated in the same current way, by pronouncing the activation word or by pressing the side button on the activated device. Siri will be able to respond to voice and text requests.
Siri Capabilities
"Siri" will be able to do most of what current chatbots can, such as searching the internet with visually rich results, providing summaries, evaluating uploaded documents.
The personal assistant will remain integrated into Apple devices. The integration of "Siri" will replace the current "Spotlight" search function, but Apple plans to retain and develop the "Siri Suggestions" feature.
"Siri Suggestions" will have greater access to user data to offer more relevant suggestions.
Examples of new "Siri" functions:
- Searching for information on the internet
- Creating content images
- Summarizing information
- Analyzing uploaded files
- Using personal data to complete tasks
- Importing information from emails, text messages, files, etc.
- Analyzing open windows and displayed content on the screen to take necessary actions
- Controlling device features and settings, searching for content on the device, to replace "Spotlight"
New Look
The Siri chatbot will get an updated look to match the standalone app. When "Siri" is activated, a new animated icon will appear, prompting the user to search or ask a question.
According to Bloomberg, Apple is testing a version of Siri integrated into a "Dynamic Island". The testing interface by Apple includes an illuminated Siri icon and a "Searching" sign in the "Dynamic Island" while Siri processes the request, and once done, Siri expands into a larger transparent panel displaying the results.
Pulling the menu down opens a chat interface. Apple might also add an "Ask Siri" button to other app menus, allowing users to send content directly to Siri with their requests.
Apple might restrict the conversation memory in the iOS system to protect user privacy.
