Director Ali Clay Responds to Accusations of Naive Exaggerations in the Series

Khaberni - Mohamed Abdel Salam, director of "Ali Clay," responded to the criticisms that targeted the series in the Ramadan season of 2026, which accused it of "naive exaggerations" similar to past eras of Indian drama.

Ahmed El Awadi starred in the project, which topped the viewership through a popular drama series in which a son searches for his real father through a series of coincidences that sometimes seem illogical, with sudden shifts from wealth to poverty, and focusing on the idea of a superhero who faces conspiracies from various parties.

Abdel Salam said in media statements that his generation "grew up on Indian drama," noting that "the series indeed includes some exaggerations, especially through the character of Ahmed El Awadi and his psychological crisis."

He added: "The exaggeration was a part of reality, and we wanted to present it in a way that is closer to the truth."

He pointed out that "the purpose of exaggeration is to enhance the dramatic effect and to convey real emotions to the viewers," asserting that "this method is inspired by his long experience in drama production."

The series "Ali Clay" was written by Mahmoud Hamdan and co-starred Tarek El Desouky, Intisar, Yara El Sekry, Mahmoud El Bezawy, Mohamed Tharwat, Essam El Saka, Reem Samy, Sara Baraka.
