Khaberni - On Wednesday, the Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi met with nuclear energy engineer Layla Ibrahim, whose story had caused a wide reaction after she faced a crisis and turned into a homeless woman sleeping on the streets.
During the celebration of the Egyptian Mother and the Ideal Mother, held by the Egyptian presidency on Wednesday, engineer Layla Ibrahim was one of the participants in the event, and the President made sure to honor her in recognition of the severe difficulties she faced during the past period.
Engineer Layla, aged 66, faced harsh conditions after losing her home and personal belongings, in addition to an injury that led to complete disability, forcing her to live on a sidewalk without shelter.
The elderly lady worked for years at the Atomic Energy Authority in Anshas city, and found herself homeless for months after losing her apartment following a dispute with the property owner, who wanted to increase the rent beyond her ability.
As her story spread on social media, the Ministry of Social Solidarity and the rapid intervention team intervened to house her in a care home in Giza governorate, providing necessary health and social support.
The Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsi, visited her in the care home to check on her, in a humanitarian gesture that reflected the state's interest in her story, before she sat today at the table of President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi during the celebration of the Egyptian woman.
