The Jordanian government rejects the extension of an Iranian diplomats stay and denies accreditation to another

Khaberni - Deputy Prime Minister, Foreign Minister Ayman Safadi confirmed that Jordan deals with issues in a way that achieves its national interest and protects its security, stability, and the safety of its citizens.

During a television interview with the "Voice of the Kingdom" program, he noted the continued presence of the Iranian embassy in Amman, with a charge d'affaires and diplomats, clarifying that Jordan refused to extend the residence of one of the Iranian diplomats and also denied accreditation to another, in a clear message reflecting its stance on Iranian policies.

Safadi emphasized that dealings with embassies are subject to political considerations, affirming that Jordan always strives to secure stability in the region, and had been open to dialogue with Iran before the war with the aim of fostering good relations, provided that Iran stops practices that threaten the security and stability of Jordan and Arab states.

He added, "How and when we engage with the Iranian embassy in Amman is governed by political considerations and we take appropriate steps at the right time when we see a necessity for it."
