Khaberni - Doctors have warned against ignoring persistent shoulder pain, confirming that in some cases it may be an early indicator of liver cancer, although this symptom may appear trivial and not alarming at first glance.
Experts explained that what is known as "referred pain", according to the "Daily Mail", can cause the patient to feel pain in the right shoulder, even though the real source is the liver, due to the connection of nerves between the two areas, which makes many confuse it with muscle strain or poor sitting posture.
According to specialists, this type of pain is often intermittent and appears on the right side, which increases the likelihood of it being ignored, especially among physically active people.
This warning comes at a time when data indicates an increase in liver cancer rates among younger age groups, including people in their thirties and forties, after the disease was more common among the elderly.
It is also expected that the cases of infection will double globally by 2050, which enhances fears of it turning into an exacerbated health crisis.
Liver cancer is characterized by unclear symptoms in its early stages, which leads to late diagnosis in many cases.
The major risk factors include: long-term alcohol consumption, obesity, fatty liver disease, and viral hepatitis types B and C, in addition to smoking.
Other warning symptoms include: feeling full quickly, unexplained weight loss, abdominal bloating, yellowing of the skin or eyes, which are indicators that require early medical attention.
Experts believe that prevention is still possible in a significant number of cases, through maintaining a healthy weight, reducing alcohol consumption, and protecting against hepatitis, confirming that early detection of symptoms can be a crucial factor in saving patients' lives.
