The National Project for School Transportation When the school approaches the nation approaches too
Author: أحمد سعد الحجاج

When the state writes its will in action and translates its care for humans into initiatives that touch the essence of his life, it does not offer a transient service, but rather establishes a stage where dignity is preserved and horizons of hope are opened. From this perspective, the National Project for School Transportation stands as a testament to a firm commitment that prioritizes the Jordanian student and ensures that the road to school is safe, dignified, and well-paved, fitting for the future of an entire nation.
This approach is not emergent, but is an extension of a solid vision led by the wise Hashemite leadership, at the forefront of which is His Majesty King Abdullah II bin Al-Hussein, may God protect him, who continually affirms that real investment begins in school desks and that empowering the student in every inch of Jordanian land is a sovereign duty and a national responsibility. From this vision, policies emerge, programs are built, and this project serves as a living testimony to the authenticity of the direction and the clarity of the purpose.
This accomplishment crystallized as the fruit of a comprehensive government effort, diligently followed by the state of Prime Minister His Excellency Dr. Jafar Hassan, with conscious support from the venerable Council of Ministers, who worked as one team to translate directives into tangible reality. At the heart of this endeavor, the unique role of His Excellency the Minister of Education and Higher Education, Professor Dr. Azmi Mahafzah stands out, who relentlessly carries the burdens of the educational field and leads the march of development with an expert eye, unwavering will, and deep belief that the student is the focus and purpose of the educational process.
This project came as a precise response to one of the most pressing challenges; the problem was not in the students' will, but in the harshness of the roads and the distances. Thus, the solution redefined the entire scene: a safe route, regular timing, and an environment conducive to learning. Here, the real value of this project becomes apparent, as it decisively contributes to reducing school dropout rates and brings thousands of students back to their desks, after geography had silently stood as a barrier to their aspirations.
Moreover, the project plays a pivotal role in reducing absenteeism rates, especially in remote areas and poverty pockets, where compounded challenges burdens both families and students. Today, with regular and safe transportation, commitment is enhanced, educational processes are stabilized, and students feel that their school is closer, and their state is closer to both, a presence that translates care, and closeness that embodies responsibility.
When we elevate our view to its human dimension, the scene of buses departing every morning is not just a movement of transport but a vibrant national tableau, transporting the pupils, carrying minds towards knowledge, and reaffirming that the state invests in humans as its most precious asset. It is a daily journey that encapsulates the meaning of care, translates the value of belonging, and declares that the path to education is now safeguarded by a nation's will that does not recede.
The impact of this project extends deep into the educational environment, where it enhances regularity, improves the quality of learning achievements, supports resource investment efficiency, and opens the field for more effective educational organization. It also contributes to invigorating local communities through job creation, connecting education to its broader developmental context, enhancing the presence of the school as a hub for life and production together, not just as a place for rote learning.
With the launch of its first phase at the beginning of the 2026/2027 school year targeting students from the southern Bedouin schools in the governorates of Karak, Tafilah, Maan, and Aqaba, we are not just inaugurating a phase-based project but establishing a graduated national course that will progressively cover the northern and central Badia, eventually extending to cover all regions of the kingdom, according to a balanced vision that ensures the quality of execution and sustainability of impact.
This project is not merely a mode of transport; it is a state's message, a responsible stance, and a conscious investment in the future of Jordan. It reaffirms that the student is not alone on his way to school but is walking under the care of an entire nation that believes in him, facilitates his success, and preserves his right to education as it preserves his dignity.
The road to school is a right.
And when the school approaches… the nation approaches.
In conclusion, the essence of this project becomes clear when the state takes on the transportation cost of approximately 27 dinars per student, in a direct investment in the minds of its children that is not to be measured by numbers alone, but by the impact it creates. This step enhances educational fairness, shortens distances for students, and increases the level of stability and achievement, making the road to school a true bridge towards a brighter future for the nation.
