Khaberni - The Israeli Broadcasting Corporation reported, on Sunday evening, that the Israeli army found what it described as a secret cache containing thousands of bombs more than 50 years old, originally intended for striking Egyptian military bases before the peace treaty was signed in 1979.
The corporation added that after inspecting the bombs and verifying their usability, the army began using these "inaccurate" munitions in its air strikes on military sites in Iran, focusing on areas far from civilian gatherings to minimize dangers.
Israeli military officials explained that the decision to use these old bombs aims to save money and utilize the storage where the bombs were kept in relatively good condition.
In this context, the army spokesman said that the air force "operates with a variety of methods and different weapons against the Iranian regime's targets," adding that "the choice of ammunition for use is an operational decision that depends on many factors, and the air force only deploys the ammunition after an organized process of verifying its usability and ensuring the efficiency and safety of ground and air crews."
Since February 28, Israel and the United States have been launching attacks on Iran, resulting in the deaths of hundreds, including Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and security officials, while Tehran has retaliated by launching rockets and drones towards Israel.
Iran also targets what it says are American interests in the region's countries, but its attacks have resulted in casualties, injuries, and damage to civilian facilities, which the targeted countries have condemned.
