The Israeli army expects weeks of fighting against Iran and Hezbollah

Khaberni - An Israeli army spokesman revealed on Sunday that expectations indicate that the fighting will continue for several more weeks.

Spokesperson Evi Deverin told the media: "We expect the fighting with Iran and Hezbollah to continue for several more weeks".

He continued: "We are working non-stop in Iran.. The regime there is unstable and weak, and we will continue to strike it".

He pointed out that the army has succeeded in intercepting "more than 90% of the missiles coming to Israel" and highlighted "an investigation is being conducted into the reasons for the failure of the air defense systems to intercept Iranian missiles on Saturday".

On Saturday evening, the cities of Dimona and Arad in southern Israel were hit by direct strikes from Iranian ballistic missiles, in one of the most prominent escalation waves during the ongoing war.

The missiles fell in residential areas, causing extensive destruction in several buildings, and resulted in injuries of about 175-200 people (including children in critical conditions), with reports of evacuating hundreds of residents.

On the Lebanese front, the Chief of Staff of the Israeli army, Eyal Zamir, warned on Sunday that his forces "will intensify their precise ground operations" and raids in Lebanon.

Zamir said in a statement, "The operation against Hezbollah is still in its beginning (...) It is a long-term operation, and we are prepared for it".

The Chief of Staff of the Israeli army explained: "Iran is the focus of our efforts, and the northern front is an additional central front. They are interconnected. Hezbollah is a principal agent for the Iranian regime, and it made a grave mistake when it chose to join the campaign against Israel. This decision is detrimental to the organization and the state of Lebanon as a whole".
