Messi and the Finalissima Cup The Story of the Postponed 47th Title

Khaberni - The European Football Union "UEFA" announced the cancellation of the Finalissima Cup match between Spain and Argentina.

The match was supposed to take place on March 27 in Doha, Qatar, but it was ultimately cancelled due to the situations in the Middle East.

UEFA revealed in an official statement the cancellation of the match, despite the proposals that were made to save it.

According to Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano, there was a full agreement between the players of the Spanish and Argentine national teams to play the Finalissima match, including the readiness of the captain Lionel Messi to participate.

He added that Lionel Messi in particular was eager to play the match because it would have given him a new opportunity to make history, as he could have won his official 47th title with clubs and the national team, and added a new championship with the Argentina team.

However, with the match not taking place in the end, this opportunity was lost for the Argentine star, and now the focus shifts to the next major goal, the World Cup 2026 this summer.

The next World Cup may be Messi's next chance to add a new title to his collection, which will likely be his last with "the Tango".

It is worth mentioning that Messi had previously won the Finalissima title in 2022, after defeating the European champion Italy team with a clean sweep.
