Amanah Distributing 5000 Books Free of Charge During the City Day Celebrations

Khaberni  -  The Greater Amman Municipality held a free book fair today, Sunday, in five of its branch libraries, as part of its celebrations for the city's day, which falls on March 2nd.

The book fair is organized as part of the municipality's efforts to promote knowledge, enhance the culture of reading and book ownership among community members, and disseminate intellectual production through launching cultural initiatives that make books accessible to all and reinforce their importance and presence in everyday life.

The book fair included the distribution of 5,000 free books to citizens at the central library downtown, Al-Raya Al-Hashemiya Library, Marj Al-Hamam Library, Qutaiba bin Muslim Library, and Sweileh Public Library.

The titles offered at the free fair covered various literary, intellectual, scientific, social, religious, historical, and children's stories fields.

The Director of the Public Libraries Department, Jilanar Al-Hawari, said that the Greater Amman Municipality, under the directives of the head of the Amman Municipality Committee, Dr. Youssef Al-Shawarbah, is working through its plans, projects, and initiatives, which are announced through Amman Municipality's official channels and the Amman Listens platform, to increase the number of books donated and distributed for free to cultural and educational institutions in Amman and other governorates, with the aim of promoting a culture of reading among all segments of society and supporting cultural institutions and activating partnerships that contribute to achieving and sustaining cultural development.

She explained that the municipality, through the Public Libraries Department, had donated 108,050 books with diverse titles to various cultural, educational institutions, associations, and bodies concerned with cultural affairs over the past three years, in the context of its ongoing support for cultural movement and strengthening partnerships with various entities, and donated 1,550 books with diverse titles to different cultural and educational institutions since the beginning of 2026.
