Khaberni - A Ramadan Iftar hosted by a member of the Jordanian House of Representatives on Wednesday evening witnessed tension between a current deputy and a former one, following a heated political discussion about the amendment to the Social Security Law.

According to parliamentary sources, the dispute began with the exchange of differing views on the amendments to the Public Institution for Social Security Act, before the discussion escalated from a verbal altercation to physical pushing in front of several attendees.

A number of deputies participating in the dinner intervened quickly to break up the dispute and contain the situation, where the two parties were separated and the atmosphere was calmed, preserving the social nature of the meeting.

This incident occurs amidst the wide debate accompanying the discussion of the proposed amendments to the Social Security Law, which has sparked sharp debates within parliamentary circles due to its direct impact on a broad segment of the citizens.

Parliamentary circles called for the necessity of self-control and adherence to responsible dialogue, emphasizing that differences over laws should remain within constitutional bounds, away from any personal tensions.
