Arrest of Sevillas Security Manager for Stealing Two Sunglasses and Pliers

Khaberni -  Media reports confirmed that the Spanish National Police arrested Fernando Bernal, the security manager at Sevilla FC, on Thursday, February 26, on suspicion of involvement in a store theft in Nevrión province.

The Sun, a British newspaper, reported based on its counterpart "Diario de Sevilla" that Bernal was detained while leaving the building carrying a bag containing two pieces of clothing and two sunglasses valued at about 800 euros, in addition to pliers.

The sources clarified that the security staff at the shopping center noticed a potential theft and informed the National Police, who sent a patrol from the Citizen Security Brigade to the site, where the suspect was arrested and taken to the High Police Headquarters, and an official report about the incident was filed, before he was released on bail pending further investigations.

Bernal has been the security manager at Sevilla since joining the club in 2015, after a long professional career in the National Police, where he spent most of it in the Intervention Unit, before agreeing to move to work at the club. His responsibilities include organizing and arranging security procedures for each of Sevilla's matches and ensuring the safety of fans and players.

The newspaper indicated that Bernal has not provided any clarification regarding the incident, whether in his capacity as a former police officer or as a security official at the club, since the value of the stolen goods exceeds 400 euros, he faces under Spanish penal law a penalty that may range from six months to 18 months imprisonment, although his clean professional record may allow the court to suffice with imposing a financial fine instead of imprisonment.
